Portrait of James A. Brown for The WSJ

I had a chance last week to make a few photographs of former Merrill Lynch executive James A. Brown, who was a key individual in the Enron financial scandal and now lives in Santa Fe with his wife Nancy. He has always maintained his innocence, and the Justice Department recently dropped fraud and conspiracy charges against him just days before the scheduled retrial. Still fighting perjury and obstruction convictions, Mr. Brown gave The Wall Street Journal his first interview.

I spent a few minutes with the leading candidate for Governor of New Mexico last week for The Washington Post. You can also read the article here.

Happy birthday America, adios Hector

Hector Mediavilla, center, is a photographer from Barcelona Spain, who spent the past few weeks traveling around the southwestern USA and Mexico after sharing his work at Review Santa Fe. July 4th was his last night in the states before flying home, so we made a picture to mark the occasion, a five second exposure using sparklers to do the light writing. Jakob Schiller is on the left, and that’s me on the right.

Bill + Emily

Bill + Emily’s Santa Fe wedding – Images by Steven St. John

I had a opportunity to work as second photographer with my new friend Eric Cousineau at Bill and Emily’s wedding at La Posada de Santa Fe. It’s only the second time I’ve worked as the second shooter at a wedding, and it’s  a little strange for me because I don’t know the couple heading into the day, but it’s also fun because it’s my job to try to see things the primary photographer can’t, which is how I try to approach most things I photograph. Seeing the beauty that most people take for granted, or don’t see because they are too busy.

As always, I urge you to click on the full screen button at the bottom right corner of the gallery.

Congratulations to the bride and groom!
